Hemorheological disorders during the acute period of the burn disease

Abstract

Severe hypovolemia and discharge of a large number of biologically active substances during the burn shock leads to microcirculation disorders and abnormalities of blood rheological properties. According to the analyzed literature sources it should be noted that during the burn shock the blood viscosity increases at the level of large- and small-diameter vessels due to disorders of the blood cell and plasma factors. At the stage of acute toxemia the blood viscosity reduces at the level of large-diameter vessels but it continues to grow at the level of small-diameter vessels due to decrease in deformation and increase in RBC aggregation.
