Influence of dental build-up on state of microflora in periodontal pockets in patients with generalized periodontitis

Abstract

This article investigated the efficacy and comparative influence of PerioChip dental build-up on state of microflora in periodontal pockets, periodontal tissues and on prevention of relapse of periodontal inflammation. It was found that PerioChip had pronounced anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, compared with other means of local treatment of periodontal pockets. According to the results of clinical and microbiological studies, it was found that using PerioChip during at most 11 days resulted in fewer periodontium - pathogenic microorganism load, eliminated symptoms of inflammation, reduced the depth of periodontal pockets and positively influenced the course of generalized periodontitis.
