Abstract

There are many facts pointing to the special status of the corneal stroma adjacent to Descemet's membrane. Morphological study of the process of regeneration and experimental embryology data show that the posterior section of the corneal stroma laying in the back of Descemet's membrane is a special layer having embryogenetic and histogenetic nuances and relationships that distinguish it from the rest corneal stromal tissue.
