Morphological pattern of femoroacetabular impingement (fai) in patients with initial stages of coxarthritis

Abstract

The study is based on the morphological research of the parts of bone protuberance at the femoral head-neck junction at cam-deformity and/or of the marginal acetabulum osteophytes at pincer-impingement obtained during hip arthroscopy in patients with I–II stages of coxarthrosis and femoroacetabular impingement. Morphological studies show that chronic trauma as a result of femoroacetabular impingement causes an inflammatory periosteum proliferation at the femoral head-neck junction among the vast majority of patients, accompanied by the bone mass increase and results in changes identical to the morphological manifestations of osteoarthritis.
